Eating & Drinking

  • Please take your medicine as prescribed with food.
  • Do not eat or drink for 6 hours prior to your surgery. This is very important so that we can ensure you have a safe surgery without complications.
  • If you are having surgery in the morning, do not eat or drink (including water) after midnight the night before. This includes: candy, mints, and chewing gum.
  • If you are having surgery in the afternoon, you are able to eat a very light breakfast. Do not have any dairy products, this includes milk, cheese and eggs.

Clothing

  • It is best to wear a short-sleeve shirt. This makes it easier to access IV site and place monitors.
  • Wear shoes that tie so that they do not slip off during or after your surgery.
  • Leave all jewelry, rings, watches and cell phones at home or with a responsible party.
  • If you believe our indoor office temperature will be too cold for you, please bring a very small blanket with you to your appointment.

Nail Polish

  • Remove any fake nails, acrylic, solar, gel, or any dark nail polish.
  • Failure to do so may interfere with the pulse-oximetry monitor, which will be placed on the tip of your finger.

Transportation

  • If your surgery is limited to removing erupted teeth and does not require sedation, you will be able to drive yourself after your appointment.
  • If your surgery requires sedation, a legal guardian needs to bring you to your appointment and stay with you at all times for at least 24 hours after your surgery.
  • Your driver must be present throughout your entire procedure.
  • No paid transportation service is allowed, example: Lyft, Uber, Limousine services, or busses.

Medications

  • Let us know if you are allergic to any medication especially penicillin and amoxicillin.
  • If you are taking any medications, please notify us, so we can instruct you on whether or not to take your medications. This includes Coumadin, Warfarin, Xarelto, or blood thinners.
  • Most of your routine medications can be taken with a small sip of water.
  • No antacids or narcotics within 24 hours of appointment.
